The Academic Council consists of the Rector, all the Deans, HODs, all Professors and Associate Professors of the university, Director Academics, Registrar, University Grants Commission.
Powers and duties of the Academic Council:
- Advise the Board of Governors on academic matters
- Regulate the conduct of teaching, research, publication, and examinations
- Regulate the admission of students to the courses of studies and examinations in the University
- Regulate the conduct and discipline of the students of the University;
propose to the Board of Governors a scheme for the constitution and organization of faculties and teaching departments
- Consider or formulate proposals for the Planning and Development of teaching and research in the University
- Make regulations prescribing the courses of studies, the syllabi, and the outlines of
tests for all University examinations, subject to the approval of the Board of Governors
- Regulate the award of studentships, scholarships, exhibitions, medals, and prizes
- Frame Regulations for submission to the Board of Governors
- Appoint/nominate members to the various Authorities in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance
- Perform such other functions as may be prescribed by Statutes
