Workshop on Applying for an International Scholarship

The Department of English Language and Literature organized an online workshop session on the topic “Applying for an International Scholarship” on 17th May’ 2024, at general IT Lab, Saleem Campus, for the students of BSEN - VI, VIII and MPEL-1, 2. Resource persons Professor Safi Ur Rehman Qamar & Ms Muqaddas Saif provided the students with the importance of applying for an international scholarship and also provided insights into the different types of scholarships available, such as merit-based, need-based, or specific fields of study scholarships. It offered guidance on how to create a strong application timeline, how to effectively communicate your academic and extracurricular achievements, and how to tailor your application to specific scholarship requirements. Workshops included interactive activities, sample successful applications, and opportunities to ask questions to help students navigate the scholarship application process successfully.

Professor Safi Ur Rehman Qamar joined the students through website link and provided the meaning of applying for an international scholarship as well as its importance. The workshop focused on guiding them about strengthening their academic profile through strong transcripts, relevant standardized test scores, and a compelling personal statement that aligns with their career goals. He also guided in securing robust letters of recommendation from credible sources.

By attending such a workshop, students have gained a better understanding of the various aspects involved in applying for scholarships, improving their application materials, and increasing their chances of securing funding for their international studies. It was a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and equip students with the tools needed to stand out in the competitive world of international scholarships. It encouraged the students to actively participate in such workshops and consultations.
