Visit to Tanzeem-ul-Lisan: Promoting Inclusion and Compassion in Rehabilitation Sciences

As part of the Community Medicine and Patient Care course, the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences conducted an outreach visit to Tanzeem-ul-Lisan, a non-profit center dedicated to the care, education, and rehabilitation of individuals with speech, hearing, intellectual, and physical disabilities. The visit aimed to enhance students’ awareness, empathy, and understanding of the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals while exploring the crucial role of rehabilitation professionals in promoting their overall well-being.

During the visit, students received a warm welcome from the administrative team, who briefed them on the institution’s mission, facilities, and multidisciplinary services, including speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and special education. Students visited various departments and observed live therapy sessions, gaining practical insights into individualized intervention approaches.

Interactive sessions were also conducted, allowing students to engage with children and adults through conversations, games, and creative group activities such as drawing and coloring. The team from TUF distributed small gifts and stationery items to express love and encouragement, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere. Students also reflected on the resilience of persons with disabilities and the role of early intervention and family involvement in achieving better outcomes. This initiative also aligned with SDG-3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG-4 (Quality Education).
