Objectives:
The synopsis defence served the following major objectives: To assess the academic readiness of students before conducting full research.
Event Details:
The Synopsis defence commenced with the Recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool (SAW). All the students presented their topics in the form of groups. Internal and external examiners evaluated their topics and other necessary point like the methodology proposed in the research and its feasibility according to their expertise and guided the students. Their main ponts of concern were:
Students demonstrated varying levels of competence, and external examiners offered critical analysis to strengthen each proposal.
Key Observations by External Examiners
The external examiners provided detailed feedback aimed at improving academic rigor:
Clarity of Problem Statements: Several students needed to refine their problem statements to better align with their research objectives.
Scope Management: Some proposals were broad; examiners advised narrowing the scope for feasibility within the available timeframe.
Alignment Between Objectives and Methodology: External examiners noted that some methodologies did not fully address the stated objectives and required revision.
Literature Review Gaps: Students were encouraged to incorporate more current and high-impact journal sources.
Variable Definition: Key variables needed clearer conceptual and operational definitions.
Ethical Considerations: Students were reminded to explicitly outline consent procedures, confidentiality measures, and ethical approvals.
Decisions and Recommendations
After deliberations, the examiners classified the students into three categories:
Fully Approved: Students whose synopses were found to be methodologically sound, clear, and feasible.
Conditionally Approved: Students required to make minor modifications, such as refining objectives, updating literature, or revising sampling procedures.
Major Revisions Required: Students advised to make substantial changes, including adjusting their research design, restructuring the conceptual framework, or redefining variables.
The synopsis defence for the Batch 2021–2026 was successfully conducted, fulfilling its purpose of evaluating and refining students’ research proposals. The involvement of external examiners enriched the session with objective, high-level academic scrutiny. Students are expected to incorporate all recommendations and proceed to the next phase of their research work.
The department commended the students for their efforts and encouraged them to maintain academic diligence throughout the research period.
