Quality Education
The Department of Pharmacy organized an academic seminar titled “Method Development and Validation in HPLC for Drug Analysis and Drug Design” on 13th November 2025. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of advanced analytical techniques widely used in pharmaceutical research, quality control, and drug development.
The seminar featured Dr Syed Muhammad Shoaib, Deputy Drug Controller at the Drug Testing Laboratory, Faisalabad, as the distinguished keynote speaker. With extensive experience in pharmaceutical analysis and regulatory affairs, Dr Shoaib delivered a comprehensive and engaging lecture focusing on the principles and applications of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
During his address, Dr Shoaib elaborated on critical aspects of method development, including selection of mobile phases, column chemistry, system suitability parameters, and optimization strategies required to achieve accurate and reproducible results. He further discussed validation techniques used to ensure method reliability such as precision, accuracy, specificity, linearity, robustness, and sensitivity emphasizing their mandatory role in regulatory compliance and drug quality assurance.Dr Shoaib also shared practical case examples from drug testing laboratories, helping students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in drug analysis, impurity profiling, and pharmaceutical product evaluation. His insights into how analytical methods contribute to modern drug design and development pipelines were particularly appreciated by the audience.
The seminar was attended by students from the 5th and 9th semesters of the Pharmacy Department, who showed great enthusiasm and actively participated in the interactive question-and-answer session. Their engagement reflected a strong interest in analytical sciences and a growing awareness of the tools and technologies driving advancements in pharmaceutical research.
The seminar proved to be an enriching academic experience, offering students valuable technical knowledge and exposure to professional analytical practices. By hosting such events, the Department of Pharmacy, The University of Faisalabad, continues to strengthen its mission of preparing future pharmacists with the expertise, confidence, and analytical skills required to excel in the pharmaceutical industry and research sectors. The department looks forward to organizing more educational sessions that contribute to students’ academic growth and practical understanding of emerging trends in pharmaceutical sciences.
The seminar supported key Sustainable Development Goals by promoting advanced pharmaceutical research and education. It contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through improved drug safety and quality, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing scientific learning, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through fostering innovation in analytical techniques.
