Good Health and Well-being
Final-year students from the 8th and 10th semesters of the Department of Optometry embarked on an academic visit to Al-Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, to gain practical exposure to advanced assistive technologies in vision rehabilitation.
The educational visit provided students with hands-on demonstrations of specialized visual aids, including magnification devices and assistive software designed to enhance residual vision. Students also explored the use of telescopic systems that significantly improve functional vision and enhance the quality of life for individuals with visual impairments.
This real-world engagement bridged the gap between classroom knowledge and clinical application, reinforcing the department’s commitment to experiential learning and evidence-based practice. The visit underscored the importance of person-centered and inclusive eye care—a key focus of contemporary optometric education.
Aligned with The University of Faisalabad’s dedication to promoting academic excellence and socially responsible healthcare, this initiative also supported the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The University of Faisalabad continues to integrate academic excellence with socially responsible healthcare education, promoting inclusive and person-centered eye care through such initiatives.
