March 8th, 2024, marked a transformative day for 4th-semester students of the Department of Optometry, as they participated in a dynamic workshop on Torch Light Examination, guided by Clinical Optometrist Dr Faria Asim. This hands-on session provided invaluable insights and practical skills, enriching the students' clinical competence and preparing them for advanced diagnostic challenges. Dr Maryam Jabbar and Dr Ammara Affi organized this phenomenal learning journey. This immersive workshop not only equipped our students with invaluable hands-on experience but also resonated deeply with the core values of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Education, Health and Well-being, and Gender Equality.
At TUF we take immense pride in nurturing the next generation of leaders and change-makers in the field of optometry. Dr Faria emphasized the importance of thorough examination techniques and demonstrated various methods to accurately diagnose common and complex conditions using a torch light. The workshop focused on practical application, ensuring that attendees could directly apply the skills learned in their clinical practice. This hands-on approach was instrumental in helping participants build confidence and proficiency in torch light examination, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
