Quality Education
The 2nd Optometry Institute Forum (OIF) was successfully held on October 23, 2025, at the Department of Optometry, The University of Faisalabad (TUF). The event aimed to provide a collaborative platform for academic leaders and professionals from various optometry institutions across Pakistan to review, discuss, and strengthen the optometry curriculum in alignment with national accreditation requirements and international educational standards.
The session was hosted by Dr. Memoona Arshad, Program In-Charge PhD (Optometry), The University of Faisalabad, and attended by representatives from several esteemed universities, including The University of Lahore, Riphah International University, Green International University, and Rashid Latif Medical University.
The forum began with a welcome note and an overview of the meeting agenda, followed by comprehensive discussions on curriculum alignment, teaching methodologies, clinical exposure, and assessment strategies. Participants shared best practices and emphasized the need for standardized course structures, evidence-based clinical training, and updated learning outcomes to meet global optometric competencies.
Special emphasis was placed on inter-institutional collaboration to enhance academic quality, research productivity, and professional development within the field of optometry. Participants also proposed forming working committees to develop unified guidelines for curriculum design, student evaluation, and continuing professional education.
The gathering was widely appreciated for fostering a spirit of unity and shared purpose among optometry educators, with a collective commitment to advancing the standards of optometric education and practice in Pakistan.
