In a proactive initiative, TUF Rehabilitation Society under the umbrella of Department of Rehabilitation Sciences successfully conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop, aiming to equip students and staff with essential life-saving skills. The workshop held on February 29, 2024 witnessed enthusiastic participation from diverse university departments. More than 350 students participated in this workshop.
Facilitated by experienced healthcare professional, the event focused on imparting crucial BLS techniques, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The Resource person Dr Farooq Islam, a well-known Physiotherapist, HOD, UIPT, University of Chiniot, Gujrat Campus, explained comprehensively about BLS additional to that, showed how practically we can perform CPR and use AED which will in turn aid in saving lives as in many cases people die of cardiac arrests which could have been saved if even a single person standing around would have the knowledge of basic life support. He explained the 3 NO’s of a person going in a cardiac arrest. He was very clear saying that every person is a life saver and hence, everyone should learn how to perform CPR and in this situation should call for help. Attendees actively practiced BLS techniques, enhancing their confidence and proficiency in Life-saving procedures. Dr Shahid Ahmed Heera, Head Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Dr Nisar Fatima; PT Coordinator along with Mr Nisar Ahmad, Additional Registrar TUF honored us with their presence and gave a positive feedback about the whole event.
