The University of Faisalabad and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Punjab, have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in environmental sustainability, research, and academic engagement. The agreement provides for the installation and safe operation of Anti-Smog Guns in Faisalabad and enables their utilization for research and learning purposes by TUF students and faculty.
The MoU was signed by Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, The University of Faisalabad, and Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, Deputy Director General, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), during the inauguration ceremony of the Anti-Smog Guns held at the Deputy Commissioner Office Faisalabad on June 13, 2026, in the presence of Dr Shaista Shafiq, Advisor Environment Society TUF and Head of the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, and Engr. Usman Azhar, Deputy Director EPA. The collaboration was facilitated through the efforts and support of Prof Dr Zahir A. Zahir, Director ORIC, The University of Faisalabad.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to addressing environmental challenges through research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. By providing students with access to practical environmental monitoring and research opportunities, the initiative will help develop future professionals equipped to contribute to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
The collaboration also promotes stronger linkages between academia and regulatory organizations, creating opportunities for applied research, capacity building, and evidence-based solutions to environmental concerns, particularly air quality management and smog mitigation.
