Turkish Embassy Delegation Visited The University of Faisalabad, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

In a significant development aimed at fostering international relations and academic collaboration, a delegation of the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan led by H.E Dr Mehmet Pacaci, the Turkish Ambassador,visited TUF on June 8, 2024. H.E Dr Mehmet was accompanied by Mr Durmus Bastug, Turkish Consul General, Mr Nurettin Demir, the Commercial Counselor, and Mr Ghazanfar Mahmood, Director Ambassadorial Office at the Turkish Embassy in Islamabad.

During a meeting with Dr Hamza Amin, Vice Chairman, Board of Governors, Professor Dr Syed Aamir Gilani, Rector, TUF, Ms Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Director ORIC, Dr Amna Javed, Head Office of International Linkages, heads of various departments, and faculty members, Ms Zahida Maqbool delivered a comprehensive presentation on the university, the University Medical and Dental College, Madinah Teaching Hospital, and other philanthropic initiatives managed by the Madinah Foundation. The visit marked a significant occasion to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Turkiye and Pakistan.

During the visit, the delegation toured the campus, including various medical and dental departments. They were briefed on the University’s, educational programs, research initiatives, and state-of-the-art facilities. The Turkish representatives expressed keen interest in fostering academic collaboration, particularly in medical research and student exchange programs. They discussed the potential for scholarships and joint research projects that could benefit students and faculty from both countries. Dr Mehmet Pacaci expressed immense gratitude for the assistance provided by the university's Alpha team in aiding the earthquake victims in Turkey last year, under the Madinah Foundation's support. He appreciated the university's efforts in providing top-quality education and achieving the best ranking on a global level.

He stated “The Alpha Team, comprised of university faculty members and students, led by Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman Board of Governors, had rendered commendable services last year in Turkey for the earthquake-affected Turkish brothers. The University of Faisalabad, through its Women Empowerment Program and promotion of education, particularly for women, has truly made them empowered”.

The visit also included discussions on healthcare advancements and shared medical challenges, with both sides exploring opportunities for future cooperation in healthcare training and development. The Turkish delegation's visit signifies a commitment to deepening bilateral relations through educational and research partnerships. This visit is part of a broader initiative by the Turkish embassy to forge stronger educational partnerships and promote cultural understanding. In this context, Dr Mehmet expressed deep interest in promoting cooperation with TUF. He ensured every possible collaboration, emphasizing that such cooperation would further enhance the relations between the two brotherly Islamic countries. Later on, becoming part of TUF's ‘Go Green’ tree plantation initiative, the Turkish delegates also planted memorable saplings in the university’s lawn.
