TUF Representation Honored at High-Level Urban Flood Management Workshop on Climate Resilience

In a significant move toward urban sustainability, Dr Shaista Shafiq, Head of the Department of Biotechnology at The University of Faisalabad, was invited as the Chief Guest at a two-day high-level training workshop on Urban Flood Management. The two-day event, held on April 22–23, 2026, at Hotel One, was organized by the Farmers Development Organization (FDO) in collaboration with GIZ and funded by the BMZ. The workshop focused on the implementation of the innovative Sponge City Model, an integrated approach that combines green and gray infrastructure to enhance climate resilience. This model is designed to empower academic institutions and government bodies to create urban systems capable of absorbing, storing, and reusing rainwater to combat heatwaves and improve water security.
