TUF Marked World Environment Day 2025 with Seminar on “Ending Plastic Pollution”

In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, the Environmental Society organized a thought-provoking seminar on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”. The event underscored the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and raising awareness about pressing ecological challenges.

The seminar was graced by distinguished guests. Mr Haroon Younas, Coordinator of the Freshwater Programme at WWF Pakistan, honored us as the Chief Guest and delivered an impactful talk emphasizing the urgent need for collective action against plastic pollution. Mr Muhammad Ali, Executive Board Member of FCCI Chamber, attended as the Guest of Honour, while Dr Shaista Shafiq enriched the event as the esteemed Guest Speaker.

In line with the theme, the event featured the presentation of the innovative "Liquid Tree" project, launched on campus to promote sustainable environmental solutions and enhance green spaces through technology. The initiative reflects the university’s proactive role in advancing eco-friendly practices.

The day also included a plantation drive, where faculty members and students came together to contribute to a greener campus. Moreover, students showcased their creativity through an exhibition of decorative and functional items crafted from pollution waste, demonstrating their dedication to eco-conscious and sustainable practices.
