Governor Punjab/ Patron of the University, H.E Sardar Saleem Haider Khan presided over the 11th Convocation of The University of Faisalabad on 2, December 2024. The ceremony was attended by Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Madinah Foundation, Mian Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman Board of Governors, Mian Khalid Riaz and Mr Hassan Rasheed, Members Board of Governors, Prof Dr Amanullah Malik, Rector, TUF, Prof Dr Syed Amir Gilani, Rector, Green International University, Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, TUF, Deans, departments’ heads, faculty members, graduates, and their parents.
At the beginning of the ceremony, to show solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, students of TUF recited a special poem, joined by Palestinian students currently studying at the university.
A total of 1794 graduates received their degrees at the convocation, including 17 PhDs. Graduates hailed from faculties such as Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Science, Information Technology, Management Studies, Engineering & Technology, and Arts & Social Sciences. Graduates took an oath to remain committed to their fields and fulfill their responsibilities with dedication.
Outstanding students in various disciplines were awarded medals, with 20 receiving Saleem Gold Medals, 47 receiving Mukhtar Silver Medals, and 20 receiving Amin Bronze Medals. Governor Punjab personally distributed medals and certificates among the high-achieving graduates.
In his address, Governor Punjab congratulated all the graduates, their parents, and faculty members. He commended the graduates for making their parents proud and acknowledged the sacrifices their families made to ensure their education. He emphasized that while their academic journey had ended, their real responsibilities were just beginning as they stepped into professional life. He urged them to pledge their dedication to the service of society and the nation, contributing to Pakistan’s development and stability.
He specifically advised graduates of health sciences to commit themselves to serving humanity through the health care services. Governor Punjab noted the challenges Pakistan faces both internally and externally, expressing his confidence in the youth's abilities to overcome these hurdles and shape the nation's future.
H.E Sardar Saleem Haider Khan also praised the contribution of Madinah Foundation in promoting higher education and providing healthcare facilities. He highlighted that The University of Faisalabad not only maintains merit but also offers scholarships to deserving students. The university’s quality education and infrastructure have earned it a place among the world’s leading institutions.
Expressing pride, the Governor of Punjab mentioned that Palestinian students, supported by Madinah Foundation scholarships, are receiving free education at TUF, in greater numbers than in any other institution in Pakistan. He lauded the university’s unique approach of combining professional education with spiritual and ethical training, regularly organizing Islamic seminars and programs to instill a deeper understanding of Islam in students. In this regard, he particularly appreciated Mian Muhammad Hanif (SI), Chairman Madinah Foundation for his exceptional contributions.
The Governor assured his commitment as Chancellor to developing a conducive environment for higher education in Pakistan and mentioned ongoing legislative efforts to curb issues like harassment and substance abuse in universities.
In his address, Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman Board of Governors, congratulated the graduates and stated that their achievements brought pride to the institution. He emphasized that their true test begins now as they venture into practical life, urging them to utilize their skills effectively. He reaffirmed the commitment to advancing the institution’s mission based on the vision of its founder, the late Haji Muhammad Saleem.
Prof Dr Amanullah Malik, Rector, TUF and Prof Dr Amir Gilani, Rector, GIU also addressed the gathering, congratulating the graduates and thanking the honorable Governor for his presence. The event also honored faculty members and staff who had been serving the university for 20 and 10 years with special awards.
The convocation ceremony concluded with emotional scenes as proud parents celebrated the achievements of their children with joy.
