In a heartwarming and impactful initiative, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, in collaboration with TUF Rehabilitation Society, celebrated the "International Day of Persons with Disabilities" on December 1, 2023. The event, aimed at promoting the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities, unfolded with activities focused on raising awareness, fostering inclusion, and advocating for equal opportunities.
The Rehabilitation team, conducted a noteworthy awareness campaign among children facing Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and Intellectual Disabilities at Tanzeem-al-Lissan, a Voluntary Organization for Special Children.
The day commenced with the meticulous packing of gifts containing engaging games, toys, and chocolates for the special children. The team's visit to Tanzeem-Al-Lissan was met with a warm reception, and the Principal and team showcased the institute's journey through a documentary and a touching skit featuring deaf students.
During the visit, the team had the privilege of touring the new building, interacting with exceptional children in various classes, and organizing engaging activities using a Thera-ball. Fun games such as jumping, running, and hurdle games were met with great enthusiasm from the children. The distribution of gifts, including chocolates, toys, and various games, brought evident joy and smiles to the faces of the special children.
By commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the event aimed to contribute to a world where disabled individuals are fully included, respected, and empowered, free from discrimination and barriers. The awareness campaign left a positive and lasting impact, furthering the understanding and importance of creating an inclusive and equitable society.
