The Department of Design and Interiors organized a Tile Painting Workshop for first-semester students as a hands-on learning initiative aimed at introducing fundamental concepts of surface design, color exploration, and abstract visual expression. The workshop provided students with an experiential platform to translate theoretical knowledge into practical artistic outcomes. During the activity, students individually worked on 1×1 foot tiles, creating abstract compositions through shapes, forms, and color arrangements.
The exercise encouraged exploration of key design principles such as balance, rhythm, harmony, and composition, while fostering individual creativity and visual experimentation. Beyond skill development, the primary objective of the workshop was to cultivate creative thinking, collaborative engagement, and a sense of artistic responsibility. Each tile was designed as a component of a larger collective artwork, emphasizing the importance of unity within diversity. The completed tiles are planned to be permanently installed within the university premises, serving as a lasting visual contribution by students. This collective installation will symbolize student creativity, ownership of shared spaces, and the transformative role of art in enhancing public environments across the campus.
