State Bank of Pakistan Conducts Two-Day SME Launchpad Session at The University of Faisalabad

In a collaborative effort with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), TUF conducted a two-day SME Launchpad Session, engaging students and budding entrepreneurs in a dynamic and enriching learning experience. Day 1 focused on the economic importance of SMEs and government-led initiatives to promote entrepreneurship. The session began with a welcome address by Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector of The University of Faisalabad, followed by key insights from Ms Fouzia Aslam, Chief Manager, SBP BSC Faisalabad, on SBP’s role in strengthening Pakistan’s SME sector. Expert sessions included:

  • Ahmad Bilal Arif, Deputy Chief Manager, SBP, on SME introduction and economic significance
  • Bakhtawar Abbas, Assistant Chief Manager, SBP, on SBP initiatives for SME promotion
  • Taimur Shahzad, Regional Manager-Credit Review, The Bank of Punjab, on government subsidy schemes and SME banking products

The day concluded with an inspiring talk by Muhammad Shafique Anjum, President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industries, motivating participants toward entrepreneurial success. Day 2 emphasized practical business, finance, and freelancing insights. Key sessions included:

  • Hafiz Abdul Rahman, Sharia Coordinator, Faysal Islamic Bank Limited, on Islamic banking and its distinction from conventional banking
  • Zeeshan Ahmad Mian, VP, Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited, on connecting with banks, microfinance institutions, and investors
  • Shahid Irshad, CFO – ChemTex / ICMA, on preparing effective business plans and projected financial statements
  • Ijaz Ahmad (FCMA), Tax Consultant and former Deputy Director, Technical Education Punjab, on company registration and tax matters for SMEs Nauman Sarwar, Founder/CEO of H3 Solutions & PrimeHRMS and President FITCO 2026, on key traits for successful freelancing

The program concluded with closing remarks and certificate distribution by Ahmad Bilal Arif, Deputy Chief Manager, SBP BSC Faisalabad. The two-day SME Launchpad Session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of SME development, financial management, and entrepreneurship, equipping them with the tools and inspiration to succeed in Pakistan’s dynamic business ecosystem.
