Department of Biotechnology conducted a seminar on “Recent Advances in Biotechnology '' in Saleem campus on 4th May. Dr Shaista Shafiq, Head Department of Biotechnology, Amin Campus, TUF was the guest speaker.Dr Shaista in her lecture highlighted various advances in Biotechnology including breakthroughs from innovative Stem Cell Research to Targeted Cancer Therapies.
She also briefed that Biotechnology is aiming to apply mRNA technology to cancer vaccines, and advanced techniques in bioprinting and microfluidics. “CRISPR is a groundbreaking tool in medical research that allows precise gene editing” she further added. The session was conducted to enlighten the students to understand these advances, from personalized medicines, and genetically modified food products to disease-resistant plants and nanorobots, so as to successfully cope with the upcoming Biotech revolution.
