Seminar on Psychological Impact of Social Media Use Sparked Dialogue at TUF

The Department of Mass Communication organized an insightful seminar exploring the psychological consequences of excessive social media use. The event featured Dr Imtiaz Ahmed Dogar, a renowned psychiatrist, who shared expert insights into the alarming rise of digital addiction and its effects on mental health. Dr Dogar highlighted how constant engagement with social media platforms contributes to increased levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and declining self-esteem, particularly among youth.

He emphasized the importance of developing healthy digital habits to safeguard mental well-being in the age of connectivity. Prof Dr Ashfaq Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, commended the initiative, stating: “Seminars like these are essential in guiding our students to become not only informed media professionals but also responsible digital citizens.” The event drew active participation from both students and faculty members, sparking thought-provoking discussions on digital wellness and the urgent need for mental health awareness in academic and professional environments.
