Raising Awareness on Ozone Depletion: Students Promote Sustainable Spray Solutions

Students in the 6th semester, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of Faisalabad, have taken a commendable step toward environmental sustainability by launching an awareness initiative focused on ozone layer depletion and its detrimental effects on the planet. In response to growing concerns about the use of harmful aerosols and chemicals that contribute to ozone depletion, students developed and introduced handmade, non-toxic, and eco-friendly alternatives to conventional sprays. This student-led effort emphasizes responsible consumption and supports global environmental goals.

As part of the initiative, two innovative products were unveiled:

  • A Natural Mosquito Repellent: Made using water, apple cider vinegar, lemon oil, and rosemary oil, this spray serves as a safe and sustainable alternative to chemical-based repellents.
  • An Eco-Friendly Disinfectant Spray: Formulated to be safe for both surfaces and the environment, this product offers an effective and non-harmful solution for everyday sanitation needs.

This initiative promotes responsible consumption and supports the global movement towards environmental protection, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
