Promoting Eye Health and Awareness through Eye Screening Camp

The Department of Optometry orchestrated a thorough eye screening camp on May 24, 2024, at Mustafai College for Women, spearheaded by Dr Ammara Affi and assisted by final-year optometry students. The camp featured a spectrum of diagnostic procedures, such as refraction, RAF rule, ophthalmoscopy, retinoscopy, and other crucial eye assessments. The team adeptly identified and treated numerous active ocular infections, prescribing suitable medications and issuing corrective prescriptions.

Patients needing further assessment were seamlessly referred to Madinah Teaching Hospital, Faisalabad for comprehensive eye examinations. Furthermore, to heighten awareness and curb the advancement of myopia, informative flyers were distributed among both students and educators.

Dr Ammara Affi conducted an enlightening session for teachers, offering insights into infection prevention and strategies to address and forestall myopia among Madrassa students. The participating optometry students acquired invaluable hands-on experience, fostering their professional growth and leaving them with a profound sense of accomplishment and contentment.
