Life on Land
The Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at The University of Faisalabad organized a seminar aimed at raising awareness about the peaceful applications of nuclear technology. The seminar emphasized the importance of nuclear advancements in key sectors such as energy, medicine, agriculture, and industry. It also addressed the effects of radiation and the safety measures essential in harnessing nuclear technology responsibly.
The event was graced by distinguished guest speakers, including Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khaleeq, President of the Pakistan Nuclear Society (PNS) and former Director General of Nuclear Power Engineering at PAEC; Mr. Waqar Ahmad Butt, Vice President of PNS and former Director General of IA&T at PAEC; and Mr. Muhammad Abbas Qamar, Executive Member and Finance Secretary of PNS, and former Director of DOS at PAEC. Each speaker brought a wealth of experience and insight, highlighting the role of nuclear technology in addressing the country’s challenges while promoting safety and sustainability.
Held at the Amin Auditorium in Faisalabad, the seminar provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the various applications of nuclear technology. The session featured expert presentations, interactive discussions, and a thought-provoking Q&A segment, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers.
The event underscored the significance of collaboration and partnerships in advancing the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). Through such initiatives, the seminar contributed to fostering a deeper understanding of nuclear technology’s potential for the betterment of society.
