Impacts of Fasting on Physical and Spiritual Health

Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies organized a panel discussion on, “Impacts of Fasting on Physical and Spiritual Health” in Saleem Campus on March 31, 2023. Panelists included Dr Hifsa Munawar, Asst Professor Islamic Studies, Dr Nabila Faisal, Asst Professor of Biochemistry, Dr Tahmina Ateeq, Asst Professor Dentistry and Dr Kiran Zulfiqar, Senior Demonstrator Pathology, while Dr Humera Khalil, Asst Professor Islamic Studies was moderator of this informative session.

During the discussion, panelists threw light on the physical and spiritual benefits of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. Experts said that, Fasting one of the five pillars of Islam, has great spiritual impacts. It strengthens our soul, brings us closer to our thoughts and emotions and relieves our worldly desires.

Fasting boosts our will power, strengthens digestive system and can help lower of blood sugar and cholesterol of human body. They also discussed the social benefits fasting in the light of teachings of holy Quran and Hadith. Large number of students and faculty members attended the spiritual session.
