Hands-On Workshop on RGP Contact Lens Fitting and Assessment

The Department of Optometry organized a Hands-On Workshop on RGP Contact Lens Fitting & Assessment for 7th Semester Optometry students on 22 October 2025. The workshop was designed to enhance students’ practical skills and strengthen their clinical competence in advanced contact lens practice.

The session was facilitated by Mr Muhammad Hasan Ansari, a Member of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE – Australia) and an experienced optometrist in contact lens practice. His expert instruction provided students with comprehensive exposure to RGP lens selection, fitting principles, assessment criteria and safe insertion and removal techniques.

Students actively participated in hands-on training sessions conducted at the Contact Lens Lab. The workshop enabled participants to develop technical proficiency, improve patient-handling skills and build professional confidence essential for clinical optometry.

The activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), by promoting high-quality clinical education and capacity building in eye care. The workshop proved to be a successful academic initiative, contributing significantly to the professional development and clinical readiness of future optometry practitioners.
