The Annual Sports Gala 2026 showcased a week of athletic excellence, camaraderie, and spirited competitions across both campuses, leaving participants and spectators inspired. From an energetic opening ceremony to an inspiring grand finale, the gala reflected the university’s strong commitment to holistic student development.
Grand Opening Ceremony
The event commenced with a vibrant team march featuring eight houses, setting a dynamic tone for the week-long celebrations. The oath-taking ceremony, led by Rector Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, reinforced the principles of sportsmanship, integrity, and fair play. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Ms Nimra Maryam, international Pakistani athlete, whose presence inspired students to pursue excellence in sports alongside academics.
Students showcased exceptional talent through gymnastics and aerobics performances, followed by exciting competitions in cricket, badminton, throwball, tug-of-war, table tennis, athletics, and more. The festive atmosphere was further elevated by a lively drum circle performance.


Day 2 – Rising Momentum and Competitive Edge
The second day intensified the competitive spirit as students actively participated in athletics, cricket, badminton, and table tennis. Track events drew significant attention, with participants demonstrating speed, endurance, and determination. Cricket fixtures kept spectators engaged with thrilling performances and strategic teamwork.
Indoor and strength-based competitions, including table tennis and arm wrestling, added diversity to the event lineup. Futsal and basketball matches further energized the grounds. E-gaming competitions such as Tekken 8, FIFA, and PUBG highlighted the inclusive nature of modern sports, proving that competitive excellence extends across multiple platforms.
Day 2 strengthened camaraderie among participants and sustained the gala’s vibrant momentum.


Day 3 – Finals and Decisive Victories
The third day featured high-stakes finals and critical knockout rounds. Track and field events, including 100m, 200m, and 400m races, along with shot put and javelin throw, showcased athletic precision and resilience.


Grand Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony was held with great enthusiasm, graced by Rector Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik as Chief Guest. Esteemed Guests of Honour included Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, TUF, Prof Dr Zaheer Ahmed Zaheer, Director ORIC, Prof Dr Majid Hussain, Dean FoIT, along with senior faculty members and departmental representatives.
A total of eight houses competed in over 20 sporting events, with more than 200 athletes receiving medals and trophies in recognition of their outstanding performances.

The Sports Gala 2026 concluded as a resounding success, made possible through the dedicated efforts of departmental sports coordinators, Sports Societies, faculty members, and organizing committees across both campuses.
Beyond medals and trophies, the event reinforced values of leadership, resilience, teamwork, and mutual respect—hallmarks of the vibrant student culture at The University of Faisalabad.
