The Department of Pharmacy celebrated Antibiotic Awareness week from 14th November-16th November 2023. On 14th of November, 2023 “Nutrifactor Laboratories (Pvt) Limited” visited The University of Faisalabad to make awareness about debilitating conditions in Diabetes and carry out vitals. On 15th of November, 2023 an awareness seminar was hosted by Dr. Naila Abdul Sattar, M. Phil in clinical biochemistry (Pak), MD (Philippines, PhD molecular biology (UK), Postdoc pharmacogenetics (UK), working as Assistant professor in GCWUF and Assistant manager quality control Saffron Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd.
She elaborates the theme of the event “Preventing antimicrobial resistance together”. Further she extends that, Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines, making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. As a result of drug resistance, antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines become ineffective and infections become increasingly difficult or impossible to treat. At the end, a question answer session was conducted to solve the students’ queries.
Department of Pharmacy hosted a Model display contest on 16th of November 2023 at The University of Faisalabad Saleem Campus. The theme was antibiotic resistance. The students from each semester participated with full zeal and zest.
The models were critically analyzed with cross questioning by Dr. Sadia Rafique (HOD DPH), Dr. Sana Shahzad (Coordinator), Dr. Sana Javaid (AP DPH) and Dr. Nyla Ajaz (AP DPH). Trophies were awarded to the winners of the Model contest. The efforts, hard work, and dedication of the students to their profession were appreciated by Dr. Sadia Rafique (HOD DPH).
