An educational tour to Gurkhi Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore

In a significant step toward experiential learning, the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences conducted an educational tour to Gurkhi Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore, on 10 December 2025. Thirty-five students accompanied by five faculty members participated, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world healthcare practices.

Clinical Exposure and Learning

The visit offered students a window into real-time patient care, where they observed over 50 patient cases. Each interaction and procedure provided a lesson in empathy, precision, and critical thinking, helping students translate theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Engagement with healthcare professionals further strengthened their professional confidence and clinical insight.

Workshop Highlight: Orthotics in Spinal Disorders

A centerpiece of the visit was the specialized workshop titled “Orthotics in Spinal Disorders: A Gait-Based Clinical Approach,” conducted by experienced experts. Students explored modern orthotic interventions and gait assessment techniques, connecting theory with practice like pieces of a clinical puzzle falling into place. The session enhanced their understanding of patient-centered rehabilitation and evidence-based clinical decision-making.

Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This educational initiative also reflects the department’s commitment to global standards of professional development:

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being – fostering skilled professionals to improve patient care.
  • SDG 4: Quality Education – promoting immersive, hands-on learning experiences.
  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – equipping students with competencies for future healthcare careers.

Future-Ready Rehabilitation Professionals for Healthcare Excellence
