47th BASR Meeting Focuses on Curriculum Enhancement and Research Quality

Strengthening its ongoing efforts toward research-driven academic advancement, the 47th meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) was convened on May 6, 2026, under the chairmanship of Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, TUF. The meeting focused on enhancing postgraduate education, research governance, and academic policies in line with HEC guidelines and evolving global standards.

During the session, the Board approved and recommended several key academic initiatives, including revised schemes of studies and curricula for various MPhil, MS, and PhD programs effective from Fall 2026 onward. The meeting also addressed thesis titles, synopses, supervisory committees, and external examiners across multiple disciplines to strengthen research quality and academic supervision.

Among the notable decisions, BASR approved reforms related to supervisory structures, academic English courses, thesis formatting standards, and the policy for hiring adjunct faculty in postgraduate programs. The Board also resolved to abolish the Postgraduate Research Committee (PGRC), streamlining research oversight through supervisors and Boards of Studies. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to developing a progressive, research-driven academic environment at TUF.
