Transformative Learning Experience for Medical Lab Sciences, Dental Technology, and Biotechnology Students

8th-semester students from Medical Lab Sciences, Dental Technology, and Biotechnology participated in an inclusive workshop on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The workshop aimed to equip students with essential data analysis skills applicable in their fields.

The workshop covered key topics, including the SPSS interface, data entry and management, descriptive statistics, data visualization, and advanced analysis techniques. Students engaged in hands-on practice, using computers in the IT lab, where expert instructors provided guidance to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the tool.

Participants had access to SPSS software prior to the event and received detailed handouts and guides for each session. Emphasis was placed on interaction and discussion, with multiple practice sessions reinforcing their learning. Feedback was collected to improve future workshops.

This initiative not only enhances students’ statistical skills but also prepares them for future MPhil and PhD research, enabling them to analyze data effectively. Statistics play a vital role in informed decision-making and understanding trends in various fields, making this workshop an invaluable experience for the students.
