The University of Faisalabad's 3-Day Hackathon Workshop Empowers Students with Cutting-Edge Digital Skills

On May 14th, The University of Faisalabad's (TUF) Placement Bureau launched an impactful 3-day hackathon titled “Code Harbor – Empowering Communities through Digital Skills Acceleration” at the TUF Amin Campus. This dynamic event aimed to equip students with advanced digital skills, enhancing their employability and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. The hackathon was inaugurated by Asifa Khan, an esteemed ambassador at the US State Department, who set the stage for a series of enlightening sessions. Key organizers included the TUF Placement Bureau, with notable participants such as Muhammad Zubair, Founder of BleedTek Solutions; Iqra Ahmad from Rezotera; and Shahzaib Dilawar, CTO & Co-Founder of Bitlogia Digital. Their collective expertise provided students with invaluable insights into contemporary digital technologies.

The event program was carefully structured to cover a wide array of relevant topics. On Day 1, Muhammad Zubair introduced the potential of Generative AI, a technology capable of creating new content like images and text, while Iqra Ahmad explained the basics of E-commerce. These sessions sparked excitement among TUF students, who were eager to learn about these modern technologies. This initiative aimed to arm students with cutting-edge digital skills, encompassing a spectrum of topics from e-commerce to Generative AI, with the overarching goal of enhancing employability prospects and instilling an entrepreneurial mindset. Day 2 focused on online business models, with Shahzaib Dilawar discussing various types of online selling, such as B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-customer), and C2C (customer-to-customer). Participants were also taught how to set up online stores using platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce, and how to leverage SEO (search engine optimization) and social media for effective advertising.

The hackathon concluded on Day 3 with an interactive Q&A session led by Asifa Khan, Head of Marketing & PR at Technupur. Students had the opportunity to engage with judges and mentors, sharing their ideas and gaining valuable feedback from experts in the field. The event culminated with the distribution of certificates to all participants, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Asifa Khan's contributions were pivotal in imparting new digital skills to the students.
