Setting Sail on an Academic Odyssey: Newly Inducted Faculty Embark on Three-Day Training Sessions

The University of Faisalabad recently embarked on a remarkable three-day academic orientation training session, running from September 4 to 6, 2023, for its newly appointed teaching faculty. This immersive training was carefully designed to provide educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate and excel in the ever-evolving world of academia.

Day 1 - Setting Sail:

Our journey commenced with a captivating inaugural session led by Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar which contains the introduction of Madinah Foundation The University of Faisalabad. Her warm welcome set the tone for the event and fostered a sense of unity among our newly inducted faculty.

Following this, Ms Nazish Sehar, Deputy Registrar HR, guided new faculty through the intricate terrain of HR Practices. Her insights were akin to a treasure map, revealing the significance of effective human resource management within the educational landscape.

Next, Mr Fayyaz Ahmad Khan, Manager Networks, brought technology to life as he demystified Efficient IT Management. However, this training wasn't just about facts and figures; it also delved into the emotional aspect of teaching. Ms Iqra Munawar, clinical psychologist, conducted an engaging Mentoring Session on Emotional Intelligence, fostering an emotionally nurturing learning environment.

Day 2 - Nurturing Excellence:

Day 2 was dedicated to nurturing excellence in education. Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, an academic luminary, led a discourse on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). This session was akin to discovering a treasure trove of pedagogical gems, providing faculty members with a roadmap to engage students and align curriculum with educational goals.

In the heart of it all, Mr Muhammad Zubair, Deputy Registrar SA, along with Assistant Registrars Ms Raima Riaz and Ms Ayesha Tabbasum, unveiled Strategies to Deal with Students, much like seasoned sailors sharing their tales of navigating the turbulent seas. In the quiet corners of the library, Mr Muhammad Ibrahim, Chief Librarian, and Ms Tashfeen Sultana Hassan unveiled the Library Information Resources treasure chest.

Meanwhile, Asst Prof Dr. Komal Atta, Director of Medical Education, conducted a mesmerizing session on Classroom Management. Her insights were like a well-choreographed ballet, providing practical tips and techniques for maintaining an engaging and organized classroom environment.

Day 3 - The Grand Finale:

The final day began with Maj (Retd) Abid Hussain Shah, Chief Security Officer, and Ms Sehrish Nisar, Assistant Manager Legal Compliance & External Correspondence, addressing Security, Safety, and Integrity.Ms Zahida Maqbool, once again taking the stage, provided valuable insights into Academic Policies, Rules, and Regulations. Her session was guided faculty members through the uncharted waters of institutional guidelines, ensuring a smooth academic voyage.

The training continued with Ms Rabia Ahmad, Deputy Registrar, and Ms Aatika Awais, Deputy Controller Examinations, leading a session on Evaluation and Assessment. Their insights were like anchors, providing stability in the ever-changing tides of educational assessment. Asst Prof Dr Nailah Riaz, Head of English Language and Literature, led a transformative Mentoring Session on Official Writing Skills. Faculty members honed their skills in crafting clear and impactful documents, like skilled wordsmiths creating eloquent narratives.

The three-day training sessions culminated in a closing ceremony, a moment of reflection and celebration. Honourable Chairman Board of Governors, Mr Muhammad Haider Amin welcomed all the new faculty members and encouraged them to play their vital roles in uplifting the academic standards of the university. Ms Zahida Maqbool distributed certificates to participants and facilitators for the successful completion of training.
