International Women’s day on 8th March, is celebrated to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women in all spheres of life. In Health Sciences wing of The University of Faisalabad, TUFIANS celebrated the day on this years’ theme; ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’ and ‘Break the Bias’.
Naqeeb ul Ashraf H.E. Syed Khalid Abdul Qadir Mansoor Al-Gillani from Baghdad, Iraq was the chief guest. Female students welcomed the honorable guest by excellent march past performance. Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman Board of Governors, TUF, Mian Muhammad Usman, member BoG, Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Rector, Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar, heads of departments and faculty members were also present. Addressing the faculty members and students in Ali Auditorium, H.E. Syed Khalid Abdul Qadir Mansoor Al-Gillani shared his words of wisdom and threw light on the role and importance of the women for the progress of a nation. He elaborated the rights and duties of Muslim women in the light of Quran and Hadith. He gave examples of Hazrat Khadija-tul-Kubra (S.A), Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (S.A) and Hazrat Fatima-tul-Zahra (S.A) and advised the female students to follow the footsteps of these great women of Islamic History.
TUF has been awarded “Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2022” and “Certificate of Excellence” for remarkable efforts and initiatives taken under CSR in the category of women welfare, empowerment and development. In this regard efforts of Ms Zahida Maqbbol and her team were particularly acknowledged by Chairman BoG and Rector TUF. On this occasion, the female workers and Janitorial Staff who work very hard and are integral part of the University, were awarded special prizes. Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Rector delivered vote of thanks.
Students also presented tableaus, documentaries, delivered speeches, displayed posters and organized a walk to raise awareness on odds and obstacles women have to face in the society. The message of women’s rights was marvelously depicted by the commendable activities of TUFIANS.
