Civil Engineering Students Explored Hydraulic Engineering at Rasul Barrage

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a successful site visit to Rasul Barrage for students of the 4th and 6th semesters of the BS Civil Engineering program. This practical training session was a pivotal component of the department’s academic strategy to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world application.

Mr Ahmad Raza Cheema, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) at Rasul Barrage, provided the students valuable insights into the operation and engineering behind hydraulic structures. Students explored key components of the barrage, including sluice gates, head regulators, and energy dissipation systems, observing their critical roles in water flow regulation and flood control.

The visit aimed to enhance student comprehension of subjects such as Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources, fulfilling important learning objectives related to PEC re-accreditation requirements. It also developed students' interest in infrastructure development and environmental sustainability, core aspects of modern civil engineering.
