Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as Professor and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies at The University of Faisalabad. With over 33 years of extensive teaching, research, and consultancy experience, Dr Ashfaq has made significant contributions in the fields of economics, marketing, policy research, and development studies.
In 1990–91, he was awarded a USAID scholarship for professional postgraduate training at Colorado State University, USA. In 1995, he received a World Bank scholarship for PhD studies at the University of New England, Armidale, Australia, where he focused his research on agricultural policy issues in Pakistan.
In 2006, Dr Ashfaq completed postdoctoral research at Laval University, Canada, under a fellowship funded by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He has also been affiliated as a PhD/MS supervisor with the International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD), Kassel University, Germany.
Dr Ashfaq has served as a consultant to numerous national and international organizations, including USAID, ACIAR, ICARDA, IFPRI, ILRI, AgMIP, JBIC, ADB, JICA, TiKA, UK Met Department, and various departments of the Government of Pakistan. He has led or contributed to 33 research projects as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator.
He has supervised 14 PhD scholars and over 150 MS/MPhil/MSc students. His academic output includes 5 authored/co-authored books, 14 book chapters, and over 100 peer-reviewed research articles. In recognition of his work, he received the TWAS Associateship Award (2011) and the Australian Alumni Excellence Award for Innovation and Research (2013). He also holds editorial positions in various national and international journals.
