"Screen Down, Eyes Up" – Myopia Awareness Week 2025 and Vision Outreach

To mark Myopia Awareness Week 2025, the Department of Optometry at The University of Faisalabad organized impactful community outreach initiatives promoting eye health and education. A Vision Screening Camp was held at The Country School, Faisalabad, where 259 students were screened for vision issues, particularly myopia. The activity featured active participation from 8th semester students and clinical observation by 4th semester students. Children were also educated on healthy screen habits in alignment with the global theme: "Screen Down, Eyes Up."

Further extending their outreach, the department held a Community Civic Engagement Camp at All Fazal Madarasa, delivering free eye screenings to students and local community members under the guidance of Dr Ammara Afifi and Dr Nimra Gul. Execution by 6th and 10th semester students, with observation by 2nd semester students, enriched the clinical learning experience.

These initiatives reinforced TUF’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 3: Good Health & Well-being

SDG 4: Quality Education

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
