Mehfil-e-Milad Commemorates the Holy Prophet (PBUH)’s Birth

In observance of the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, a Mehfil-e-Milad Mustafa (SAW) was organized by the Religious Society under the auspice of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, TUF. The events took place at Amin and Saleem Campuses of the University September 29, 2023. Prof Syeda Akhter Kalsoom Director, Jamia Nooria Rizvia Faisalabad was Guest of Honor for the event. Present on the occasion were Rector Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Additional Registrar Ms Zahida Maqbool, Head of Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies Prof Dr Matloob Ahmed, and other faculty members.

The mehfil began with introduction of the significance of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal and praise of Allah Almighty. In a euphonic harmony, Ms Ayesha Batool and students sent salutations upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and recited poetry and kalam in His praise. Taking into account the theme, Ms Safia Jaffar spoke in praise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with references to the Holy Quran. She expounded the different Surahs such as Surah Ad-Duha and Surah Kausar in which Allah Almighty specifically addresses his beloved Messenger (PBUH).

Later, Guest Speaker Prof Dr Syeda Akhter Kulsoom delivered a comprehensive lecture on the significance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s birth and the elevation of women’s status that came along. She highlighted the Prophet (PBUH)’s title as “Rehmat-ul-lil-Aalameen” (Blessing for all Worlds). Explicating the significance of Darood-o-Salam, she stated,

“Recitation of Salutations upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the key to protecting one’s faith”.

The speaker further elucidated the significance of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and His Seerah. The Milad was drawn to a close with Darood-o-Salam and Dua by Prof Syeda Akhter Kalsoom.
