Peace and Justice Strong Institutions
In observance of International Peace Day, The University of Faisalabad organized a series of engaging and meaningful events aimed at fostering peace, understanding, and reflection among students. Two major activities — a Painting Competition and an Interdepartmental Speech Competition — were held under the collaborative efforts of the TUF Literary Society and Alpha TUF Welfare Society, drawing wide participation from various departments.
The Painting Competition encouraged students to express their interpretations of peace, harmony, and unity through art. Participants demonstrated remarkable creativity, with each artwork reflecting not only technical skill but also a deep understanding of the day’s core message. Nouma Irfan, Acting Head of the Department of Design and Interiors, evaluated the submissions and awarded certificates to top performers. The event concluded on a high note, celebrating both talent and the timeless values of cooperation and mutual respect.
Adding further depth to the Peace Day observance, an Interdepartmental Speech Competition was organized and managed by the Department of English Language and Literature, centered on the theme “Moral Values vs Material Gain.” This competition invited students to explore the complex balance between ethical principles and modern societal pressures. Through powerful arguments and insightful reflections, participants examined the role of family, education, religion, and media in shaping today’s youth. The speeches addressed how globalization and consumer culture are influencing priorities, raising important questions about the direction of future generations.
The speech competition was judged by Dr Humeria Khalil (Department of Islamic Studies) and Arzoo Asghar (Department of Pharmacy), who praised the quality of discourse and depth of thought demonstrated by the speakers. Urooj Fatima secured first place, followed by Minahil Shakeel (second) and Sheeza Tazeem (third). All participants received certificates of participation in recognition of their effort and engagement.
Both events reflected the university’s ongoing commitment to nurturing socially responsible, thoughtful, and expressive individuals. Through creative and intellectual platforms like these, The University of Faisalabad continues to instill values that extend beyond the classroom, fostering a campus culture rooted in peace, empathy, and integrity.
