International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The University of Faisalabad successfully observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, 2024. The event, organized by TUF International Programs in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Society, aimed to raise awareness and build discussions on combating violence against women.

. Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, TUF, participated as a chief guest. The event included other renowned figures; Ms Afsheen Javaid, Head Department of Design and Interiors, who discussed the types and prevalence of violence against women globally. Dr Komal Atta, Director Medical Education, UMDC, provided insights into the psychological impact of violence on women. Dr Amina Mehak Hassnat, CCA Coordination Officer, highlighted strategies for empowerment and advocacy. Mr Muhammad Hanan Iftekhar, Head TUF International Programs, explored the complexities of violence against women, including cultural, social, and economic factors.

A panel of experts delved into the root causes, societal impacts, and effective actions to combat violence against women. The panel included Dr Aliya Fahmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Ms Nazish Seher, Deputy Registrar HR, Dr Rabia Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of English Language and Literature, Prof Dr Matloob Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr Sami ur Rahman, Dean Faculty of Law, and moderated by Dr Shaista Shafiq, Head Department of Biotechnology. Mr Muhammad Hanan Iftekhar concluded the event with a summary of key takeaways and a call to action. Prof Dr Amanullah Malik also delivered his concluding remarks to the meaningful discussions, and awarded the speakers and panelists with certificates.
