Bringing Clarity to Communities – Community Civic Engagement Camp

The Department of Optometry at The University of Faisalabad successfully organized a Community Civic Engagement Camp at Afzal Hussain Madarasa, Faisalabad, under the impactful theme: “Eye Care for Everyone.”

This community-focused initiative aimed to promote equitable access to primary eye care by offering free vision screenings to students and local residents. The camp focused on early detection and awareness of vision problems, ensuring that underserved populations are not left behind in receiving essential eye health services.

The camp was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ammara Affi and Dr. Nimra Gul. Practical execution was carried out by students of the 6th and 10th semesters, while 2nd semester students attended as observers, gaining valuable exposure to clinical practices in a real-world community setting.

Impact and Educational Value

This event served a dual purpose—delivering much-needed eye care services to the community and enriching the educational experience of optometry students through hands-on engagement. It reinforced the principles of civic responsibility, professional growth, and community-oriented healthcare.

Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • SDG 3: Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all
  • SDG 4: Enhancing quality education through experiential learning
  • SDG 10: Reducing inequalities by reaching underserved populations

Through this outreach effort, the Department of Optometry continues to lead initiatives that link academic training with meaningful community impact—bringing clearer vision and brighter futures to those who need it most.
