OBJECTIVES

  • Equip students with comprehensive knowledge and technical skills in operation theater technology, including the operation and maintenance of surgical instruments, medical equipment, and sterilization procedures.
  • Foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enabling students to respond effectively to surgical emergencies and challenges in the operating room.
  • Provide hands-on clinical training in diverse healthcare settings to develop proficiency in assisting surgical teams during procedures and ensuring a sterile and safe environment.
  • Cultivate professionalism, teamwork, and communication skills essential for collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, patients, and their families.
  •  Instill a commitment to lifelong learning to stay updated on advancements in surgical technology and contribute to the improvement of operating room practices.
  • Prepare graduates to successfully pass certification examinations and obtain licensure as operation theater technologists, positioning them for fulfilling careers in healthcare.

ROLE AND SCOPE

  • Conduct pre-operative assessments to ensure a sterile and safe operating environment for surgical procedures
  • Assume leadership roles in operation theater departments, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and mentor future operation theater technologists.
  • Demonstrate competence in preparing and managing surgical instruments, equipment, and materials necessary for various surgical procedures.
  • Identify comorbid conditions in patients undergoing surgery and understand their implications for surgical interventions.
  • Apply research findings and evidence-based practices to enhance surgical care delivery and contribute to the advancement of the field through scholarly inquiry.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal surgical outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in surgical technology, equipment, and best practices.
