Innovative Lyallpur 3.0 Showcased 250+ Cutting-Edge Innovative Projects from 35+ Universities at TUF

Building on the resounding success of Innovative Lyallpur 1.0 in 2023 and Innovative Lyallpur 2.0 in 2024, TUF has firmly established itself as a national hub for student-led innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology-driven solutions. The Department of Computer Sciences, TUF, in collaboration with IEEE TUF Student Branch, IEEE ComSoc Lahore, and IEEE Faisalabad Sub-Section, successfully hosted the third edition of its flagship event, Innovative Lyallpur 3.0. Over 250 innovative projects were presented by talented students from more than 35 universities across Pakistan, showcasing a vibrant spectrum of creativity, technology, and problem-solving at Innovative Lyallpur 3.0.

The inauguration ceremony of mega event commenced with welcome address by Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, TUF, who set the tone for the transformative event by emphasizing the university’s strategic focus on innovation, industry-academia synergy, and future-ready education.

Prof Dr Majid Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Information Technology, welcomed the esteemed guests and participants. Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, graced the event as the chief guest and delivered a compelling address highlighting the urgent need for Pakistan to accelerate its pace in the global research and innovation race. He emphasized that despite the immense potential, Pakistan’s contribution to research remains significantly lower compared to other nations. He urged universities to break silos and actively engage in joint research ventures, technology transfer, and commercialization of ideas to build a knowledge-based economy. His address served as a clarion call for academic leaders to embrace innovation not just as a vision, but as a mission critical to Pakistan’s sustainable development and global competitiveness.

A high-profile panel of distinguished Guests of Honor significantly elevated the stature of Innovative Lyallpur 3.0 with their esteemed presence and insights. Among them were Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad; Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University Bahawalpur/MNSU; Prof Dr Umar Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor of Government College University Lahore; and Mr Murtaza Noor, Coordinator at COMSTECH. The panel also included notable academic leaders such as Dr Bilal Tahir, Provost of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan; Dr Waqar Mehmood, Director of KICS at UET Lahore; and Prof Dr Tassaduq Hussain, Director of the Center of AI and Big Data.

They delivered insightful speeches, highlighting the significance of nurturing innovation ecosystems in academic institutions, particularly in artificial intelligence, big data, and digital transformation. With a spirit of pride and inspiration, Dr Muhammad Hamza Amin, Vice Chairman BOG, TUF addressed the audience, commending the transformative potential of student innovations: “Today was not just an exhibition of projects—it was a declaration of intent. From sustainability models to AI innovations, students showcased transformative ideas that reflect the direction the world is heading, and Pakistan must not be left behind. At TUF we believe in blending academic excellence with real-world application, nurturing ethical inquiry, creative resilience, and collaborative innovation.”

Dr Hamza Amin in his insightful closing remarks, extended heartfelt thanks to the esteemed chief guest and guests of honour for their valuable presence, and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the entire organizing team and the Department of Computer Sciences for successfully orchestrating Innovative Lyallpur 3.0.

The Project Expo, featuring over 250 final-year innovation projects, was a dynamic showcase of student ingenuity and technological creativity. The projects were thoroughly evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising the guests of honour, chief guest, Prof Dr Shahid Munir, along with Dr Hamza Amin, Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Dr Zahida Maqbool, and Prof Dr Majid Hussain. The panel visited each project, engaging with students, assessing their research depth, practical implementation, and societal impact. Their active involvement not only ensured a rigorous evaluation process but also served as a motivating experience for participants, reinforcing TUF’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation-led learning.

Empowering the next generation of innovators, the IEEE-hosted conference and presentation sessions at Innovative Lyallpur 3.0 brought together bright minds from across Pakistan. Organized by the Department of Computer Sciences, TUF, in collaboration with IEEE TUF Student Branch, IEEE ComSoc Lahore Chapter, and IEEE Faisalabad Sub-Section, these sessions served as a dynamic platform for students. From AI-driven healthcare solutions to sustainable smart systems, participants demonstrated exceptional creativity, technical skill, and a commitment to solving real-world problems. The sessions not only highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration but also reinforced TUF’s role as a national hub for innovation and technological advancement.

The winners of the prestigious Innovative Lyallpur 3.0 were recognized for outstanding projects that showcased innovation, creativity, and technological advancements: 1st Prize: Islamia University, Bahawalpur won Rs. 150,000 for their innovative "IoT-Based Adaptive PID Controller for Enhanced Boiler Efficiency" project. 2nd Prize: Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan secured Rs. 100,000 for their "Solar Water Purification System" project. 3rd Prize: The University of Faisalabad received Rs. 50,000 for their impressive "VR Motion Track Project" showcasing their innovative spirit.
