In a proactive effort to promote occupational health and safety, the Rehabilitation Society at The University of Faisalabad organized an “Awareness Campaign on Workplace Ergonomics for the Cleaning Staff”.
The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering a healthier, safer, and more productive work environment for essential service personnel.
The campaign emphasized the importance of proper body mechanics and ergonomic practices in daily cleaning tasks. The event began with an informative session on the principles of ergonomics, highlighting how small adjustments in posture and technique can significantly reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue, and work-related injuries. Participants also took part in individual posture and vital assessments, receiving personalized ergonomic guidance tailored to their specific roles and physical needs. These interventions aimed to relieve strain on the back, shoulders, and knees while improving comfort, safety, and efficiency at work.
The session concluded with a group exercise demonstration, showcasing simple stretches and strengthening movements that can easily be incorporated into daily routines to support musculoskeletal health and prevent injury.
