TUF Welcomes New Faculty with Professional Orientation

The orientation program was designed to facilitate the induction of newly appointed faculty members into the university's academic culture and professional environment.

The first day commenced with a Faculty Onboarding and Compliance Process, facilitated by Ms Madiha Asif, Assistant Registrar (HR), Saleem Wing, and Ms Sana Tahir, Assistant Registrar (HR), Amin Wing. The session covered participant registration, submission of required documents, biometric attendance and other onboarding formalities.

A Meet & Greet session followed, led by Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, TUF, providing the newly inducted faculty members with an opportunity for introduction and interaction.

The session on Effective Communication Skills for Academic Professionals, led by Prof Dr Katsiaryna Hurbik, Head of Linguistics, Department of English. The session addressed effective verbal and written communication, active listening, presentation skills, and strategies for meaningful engagement with students and colleagues.

The day concluded with a session on Professional & Ethical Standards, facilitated by Mr Rohail Jibran, Lecturer, National Business School. The session highlighted ethical decision-making, professional behaviour, communication etiquette, conflict resolution, and grievance handling within an academic environment.

The second day of the Orientation Programme for New Faculty Induction – 2026 continued with a series of sessions aimed at strengthening newly inducted faculty members’ understanding of the TUF's academic, administrative, and quality assurance frameworks.

The day commenced with a session on Quality Assurance & Accreditation, facilitated by Ms Munazza Kausar, Deputy Director, Quality Enhancement Cell. The session covered quality assurance requirements, programme review, and self-assessment reports, highlighting the importance of academic quality and continuous improvement.

This was followed by an Overview of University Structure led by Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, which familiarised faculty members with the University’s vision, mission, values, governance, departments, committees, and institutional structures.

Another session focusing on HR Policies, was conducted by Ms Sana Tahir, Assistant Registrar HR, providing an overview of HR policies and the code of conduct. The day concluded with a session on Academic Policies, facilitated by Prof Dr Abdul Wahid, Director Academics, covering key academic regulations and student progression policies.

Through these sessions, the orientation further equipped newly inducted faculty members with essential knowledge of institutional systems, quality standards, professional policies, and academic regulations, supporting their effective integration into the TUF's academic environment.

Moving beyond institutional policies and academic frameworks, the third day of the Orientation Program for New Faculty Induction – 2026 placed a strong emphasis on practical teaching approaches, digital learning, student engagement, and faculty participation beyond the classroom.

The day opened with Teaching Methodologies, led by Asst Prof Dr Komal Atta, Director Medical Education, focusing on blended learning strategies and approaches to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

The orientation then explored Technology in Teaching with Asst Prof Dr Shakila Abbas, Department of Optometry, highlighting the use of LMS and e-learning tools in contemporary academic settings.

Faculty members also attended a session on Effective Use of Online Resources and Digital Library, facilitated by Mr Khurram Shahzad, Librarian. The session guided participants on navigating digital libraries, assessing the credibility of online resources, using digital tools for research, and maintaining ethical practices in the use of online resources.

The afternoon sessions shifted the focus towards creating a more engaging academic experience. Muhammad Hanan Iftekhar, Head TUF International Programs, conducted a session on Effective Student Engagement Techniques, highlighting strategies to strengthen a student-centred teaching approach.

The day concluded with Engaging Mind Beyond Classroom, facilitated by Mr Usama Khan, Manager CCA, introducing faculty members to the University’s co-curricular activities landscape and opportunities for faculty engagement.

With its focus on innovative teaching, digital resources, meaningful student interaction, and co-curricular engagement, Day 3 provided newly inducted faculty members with practical perspectives for creating a more dynamic and student-centered academic environment.

The fourth day of the Orientation Programme for New Faculty Induction – 2026 brought together sessions focused on faculty well-being, responsible research practices, academic regulations, and creating a safe and respectful academic environment.

The beginning session Work-Life Balance and Stress Management, was facilitated by Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid, Dean Clinical Training. The session highlighted practical approaches to managing workplace stress, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and improving time management.

The orientation then moved towards Research Ethics and Integrity, led by Prof Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Director ORIC. The session addressed research ethics, methodology, the publication process, funding opportunities, and plagiarism, reinforcing the importance of integrity and responsible conduct in academic research.

The next session on Examination Regulations, facilitated by Mr Muhammad Zubair, Controller of Examinations, provided faculty members with an overview of examination rules, grading systems, assessment methods, attendance requirements, and their responsibilities in upholding academic integrity.

The day concluded with Gender Norms & Policy Against Sexual Harassment, led by Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar. The session familiarised faculty members with guiding principles, prohibited conduct, awareness and training requirements, and confidentiality, reinforcing TUF’s commitment to a professional, respectful, and secure academic environment.

Through these diverse sessions, Day 4 strengthened the professional preparedness of newly inducted faculty members while emphasising well-being, research integrity, academic responsibility, and a culture of respect and inclusivity within the TUF community.

The concluding day of the Orientation Programme for New Faculty Induction 2026 at TUF featured insightful sessions on Community Engagement by Ms Izza Ayub, Assistant Professor, Rehabilitation Sciences and the Security Contingency Plan by Maj (Retd) Shehryar, Chief Security Officer.

Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, and Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar TUF, warmly welcomed the newly inducted faculty members and congratulated them on becoming part of the TUF community. They underscored the pivotal role of innovative teaching, impactful research and student-centered learning in nurturing excellence, inspiring intellectual growth and preparing future-ready graduates equipped to meet the evolving challenges of the world.

The programme concluded with the presentation of certificates to newly inducted faculty members, recognizing their successful completion of the orientation programme.
