TUF Organizes Independence Day Plantation Drive for a Greener Pakistan
The Rehabilitation Society, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Faisalabad (TUF), in collaboration with the Department of Forestry & Range Management, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), organized an Independence Day Plantation Drive on 13 August 2026 at Saleem Wing, TUF. The activity was held to commemorate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day through the plantation of 79 trees, symbolizing the 79 years of the nation’s independence, while promoting environmental sustainability and supporting the broader Green Pakistan vision.
Dr Fahad Rasheed, Chairman, Department of Forestry & Range Management, UAF, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of tree plantation, environmental conservation, and collective efforts in creating a greener and healthier environment. He appreciated the initiative of the Rehabilitation Society and emphasized the role of educational institutions and students in promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
The plantation drive brought together faculty members, students, and organizers, reflecting active institutional participation in the environmental initiative. Following the formal proceedings, participants proceeded to the designated plantation sites, where 79 trees were planted. The plantation included Gulmohar, Amaltas, Kachnar, Bakain, Jamun, Shehtoot (Mulberry), Philkan, Rose, and Jatropha, among other suitable varieties.
Dr Marium Zafar, Head, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, TUF, delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to the university administration, the Department of Forestry & Range Management, faculty members, students, and all participants for their support and contribution to the successful organization of the drive. She emphasized the importance of sustaining such initiatives and encouraging continued environmental responsibility among students and the wider university community.
The plantation drive offered a meaningful way to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day by combining national spirit with environmental stewardship. The initiative concluded with a shared commitment to continuing efforts that contribute to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Pakistan.
