TUF Advanced Awareness of Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation on World Physical Therapy Day 2026

The Rehabilitation Society, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, TUF, advanced awareness of cardiovascular health and rehabilitation through its World Physical Therapy Day 2026 activities, highlighting the vital role of physiotherapy and physical activity in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

The event was organized in accordance with the 2026 World PT Day theme, “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in the Prevention, Management, and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.” The celebration brought together students, faculty members, and distinguished healthcare professionals for a series of academic and co-curricular activities aimed at promoting awareness, professional development, and multidisciplinary healthcare practice.

The program featured a Documentary Competition and E-Poster Competition, providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their academic knowledge, creativity, communication skills, and understanding of contemporary challenges in cardiovascular health, stroke, physical activity, and rehabilitation. A Multi-Disciplinary Approach Seminar was also organized to emphasize the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals in providing comprehensive and patient-centered care.

The event was honored by the presence of Dr Habib Aslam Gaba, MBBS (KE), D Card (UK), MBA, MPhil, FACC (USA), FCMI (UK), CMEJ, CHPE, CODE, CCAT, Consultant Cardiologist, Convener/Chairman FCCI Standing Committee on Industry Academia Linkages, Policy Advocacy and SDGs, and Chairman Gaba Heart and Medical Centre, who served as the Chief Guest, Guest Speaker and Judge for the E-Poster and Documentary Competitions. His participation provided students with valuable professional insights into cardiovascular health and the significance of rehabilitation within the continuum of patient care.

Other distinguished speakers included Prof Dr Khalid Parvez, Consultant Rheumatologist, and Dr Saad Asim, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, whose contributions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the complementary roles of different healthcare professionals in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term patient management.

The E-Poster Competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their academic knowledge, creativity, and ability to communicate important healthcare concepts through innovative and visually engaging presentations. Fatiha Mir (5th Semester) and Eman Surat (2nd Semester) jointly secured 1st Position, followed by Zojaja Khan (9th Semester) in 2nd Position and Ayesha (7th Semester) in 3rd Position. In the Documentary Competition, Rida and Team (8th Semester) emerged as the winners, earning recognition for their creative and informative contribution.

The celebration provided students with a meaningful opportunity to connect academic learning with professional practice while promoting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education through awareness, learning, and multidisciplinary healthcare engagement. The participation of experts from cardiology, rheumatology, and orthopaedics reinforced the value of collaborative care, and the event concluded with appreciation for all distinguished guests, speakers, faculty members, organizers, and students for their valuable contributions to its success.
