TUF Explores AI-Assisted Programming and Vibe Coding

Exploring the Future of Programming Through Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Computer Science organized a departmental seminar titled “Exploring the Future of Programming Through Artificial Intelligence”. Designed for BS-level students, the two-hour seminar focused on Artificial Intelligence-assisted programming, commonly introduced during the session as “Vibe Coding,” and provided students with practical exposure to modern AI-powered programming tools, demonstrations, industry insights, and emerging opportunities in software development.

The seminar commenced with a welcome note and an introduction to AI-assisted programming and Vibe Coding. Speakers introduced AI-powered coding tools, including Claude and Copilot, and demonstrated their applications in real-time programming, prompt-to-application development, code understanding, improvement, modification, and debugging.

WAPEXP Institute of Information Technologies participated as an industry partner, contributing industry-oriented discussions, practical exposure, live coding, and career guidance. Industry representatives Salman Raza, Director, WAPEXP; Founder, WellMind Data Solutions; and Co-Founder, ATS Digital Agency, and Tayyab Ijaz, Head of AI, WAPEXP; and Co-Founder, WellMind Data Solutions, shared insights into AI-assisted software development, emerging industry trends, career development, and opportunities for internships and training.

The interactive session helped students understand the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in modern programming and familiarized them with contemporary coding tools and their practical applications. The live demonstrations illustrated how natural-language prompts can support coding, application development, and debugging, while the discussion encouraged students to explore innovative and responsible uses of AI in programming.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, career discussion, key takeaways, a vote of thanks, shield presentation, and a group photograph. The activity supported the Department of Computer Science’s efforts to connect academic learning with emerging technologies and contemporary requirements of the software industry.
