TUF Brought Together Oncologists and Survivors for Breast Cancer Awareness

TUF Rehabilitation Society, in collaboration with the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, TUF, organized a breast cancer awareness and empowerment event under the theme “When Pink Speaks: Know. Speak. Act.” The initiative aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer, highlight the importance of early detection, and encourage informed health decisions and community support.

The event brought together leading oncologists, breast cancer survivors, university leadership, and members of the academic community for meaningful discussions on breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Renowned oncologists Dr Saira Saleem, Dr Ahsan Mumtaz Rao, and Dr Muhammad Tahir Bashir shared their professional insights on breast cancer, highlighting the significance of recognizing warning signs, seeking timely medical evaluation, and adopting evidence-based approaches to diagnosis and management.

A key highlight of the event was the participation of breast cancer survivors Ms Ghana Butt, Ms Maimoona Irfan, and Ms Iffat Bano, who shared their personal journeys of resilience, hope, and courage. Their experiences underscored the importance of early detection, emotional support, and creating a compassionate environment for individuals affected by breast cancer. Their contributions also emphasized the need to challenge stigma and encourage open conversations about breast health.

Dr Zahida Maqbool, Registrar, TUF, also attended the event, demonstrating the university leadership's support for health awareness and community engagement initiatives. Through this initiative, the TUF Rehabilitation Society and the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, health education, and community engagement in addressing significant public health challenges. The event also emphasized the role of higher education institutions in promoting awareness, encouraging responsible health practices, and strengthening empathy and social responsibility. The program concluded with a call to action encouraging individuals to recognize the signs of breast cancer, seek appropriate medical guidance, prioritize timely screening, and extend support to survivors.

Under the theme “WHEN PINK SPEAKS: KNOW. SPEAK. ACT," the event reinforced a collective commitment to awareness, empowerment, and improved women's health. The University of Faisalabad remains committed to supporting educational and community-based initiatives that advance health awareness and contribute to societal well-being. The initiative supported SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 5: Gender Equality by promoting breast cancer awareness, early detection, health education, and women's empowerment through expert guidance and survivor experiences.
