Bone Mineral Density Camp to Promote Bone Health Awareness

Bone Mineral Density Camp to Promote Bone Health Awareness

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Faisalabad, organized a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Camp. The camp aimed to promote awareness about bone health, facilitate early detection of low bone mineral density, and help individuals assess their risk of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions. During the camp, a total of 86 individuals underwent bone mineral density screening. The screening results showed that 23 individuals (26.7%) had normal bone density, 61 individuals (70.9%) had osteopenia, and 2 individuals (2.3%) had osteoporosis.

These findings highlighted the importance of timely screening, preventive measures, and appropriate clinical follow-up to maintain bone health and reduce the risk of fractures. The camp provided an opportunity to raise awareness about osteoporosis prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and the importance of early assessment and appropriate management of bone-related conditions. Participants were encouraged to take proactive steps toward maintaining bone strength through appropriate physical activity, balanced nutrition, and professional healthcare guidance. This initiative reflects TUF’s commitment to community health promotion, preventive healthcare, and public awareness through accessible screening services. The activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting preventive care and supporting better long-term health outcomes.
