World Sight Week Celebration

DAY 1: PACK TO SCHOOL (SCHOOL TOUR) 5 OCT, 2022 The Department of Optometry under the umbrella of The University of Faisalabad organized eye screening in Masoomeen School, Chiniot on 5th October, 2022. 3rd year Optometry students under the supervision of Optometry faculty organized a one day free screening camp. More than 400 students attended for their eye checkup of grade 1 to 10th class. The main objective was to educate the teachers, parents, and guardians of young children regarding the concept of eye health and present some useful facts, tips and activities in a fun and engaging way. Comprehensive eye examination effectively was done thus to provide awareness and to improve access to eye healthcare services. #LoveYourEyes

 

 

DAY 2: SCREENING CAMP 6 OCT, 2022 One day community eye camp screening was conducted on 6 October, 2022 at 66 J.B Dhandra, Faisalabad. The aim was to help the targeted community by providing accessible, affordable and available eye care services. More than 600 people of different ages were examined for various ocular conditions.

 

 

DAY 3: Flyer distribution for awareness regarding eye health was conducted To promote the comprehensive eye examination.

 

 

DAY 4: COMPETITIONS Conducted a model, photography, quiz and 3MT competition at national level. Optometry students from different institutes participated in this competition. At the end, the winner was awarded with a certificate of 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions. Purpose to conducting this study was to evaluate the knowledge of the participants within academics as well as beyond academics creativities for models and to make them familiar with the prospects of quizzes and the objectivity of the questions. Skit was performed by students of TUF-dramatic society to promote the eye examination and importance of early detection and to prevent avoidable blindness. INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR 11 OCT, 2022 International Speaker: Professor Mark A Bullimore is an internationally renowned scientist, speaker. He is currently working as Adjunct Professor at Houston University, Texas. National Guest Speaker: Dr. Memoona Arshad PhD (Optom), FIACLE Assistant professor, Green University, Lahore, Faisalabad. Topic of discussion “Opportunity for Optometrists” For the community camp we collaborated and took the sponsorship from Bausch & Lomb.
