Symposium on Presbyopia: From Glasses to Drops – The Evolving Landscape of Presbyopia Management

The Department of Optometry, TUF, in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, Madina Teaching Hospital Faisalabad, successfully organized a Scientific Symposium on “Presbyopia: From Glasses to Drops – The Evolving Landscape of Presbyopia Management” on October 24, 2025. The event brought together faculty, students, and experts from the field of vision sciences to discuss the latest advancements in presbyopia management, highlighting the transition from conventional optical solutions to modern pharmacological innovations.

The symposium featured distinguished speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of presbyopia. Prof Dr Zia Ul Mazhry, Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at WAPDA Teaching Hospital, Lahore, delivered an insightful presentation on “Time and Age – Seeing Beyond Presbyopia,” emphasizing how aging affects vision and how modern technology can help restore it. Dr Memoona Arshad, Incharge of the PhD Program at the Department of Optometry, The University of Faisalabad, spoke on “Beyond Reading Glasses – Multifocal Contact Lenses in Presbyopia Management,” shedding light on advanced optical solutions. Dr Saba Tariq, Professor of Pharmacology at the University Medical & Dental College, Faisalabad, discussed the “Pharmacokinetics of Vizz Eye Drops,” focusing on the emerging role of pharmacological interventions.

The symposium attracted both undergraduate and postgraduate optometry students, offering them an opportunity to gain insights into current research trends, innovative treatment strategies, and clinical practices in presbyopia management. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment and a vote of thanks by the organizing committee, acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, participants, and collaborators.
